I like the business in the front, party in the back attitude of this shirt. I also enjoy a good mullet for the same reason.

The dress code for my last temporary job was super strict; I'm glad that my new permanent employment situation is much more relaxed. I've got to be presentable (customer service and all that), but if I want to wear backless shirts and eye-assulting neon, no one's gonna stop me. At least, no one's stopped me yet. I can't predict the future.

(p.s. I've finally made it to the 21st century, and you can now Follow my blog with Bloglovin!)

outfit: friday funday

Happy Memorial Day! Corban and I just got back from the lake and are so tired (and a little sunburned) but really happy to have spent time with great friends.

Friday before last was my ultimate "free" day before the new job started. As much as I've wanted a paycheck an occupation, I've really gotten used to spending my time as I please. So, when the husband got off work early, I was really excited to go sit on the Flying Saucer porch and enjoy some wine.

After a while, we turned sitting into walking and explored the annual Taste Addison festival. Taste we did, my friends. Sushi, beer, ice-cream, hot dogs... My favorite by far was the massive foot-long corn dog I tracked down. Sweet, salty, freshly deep-fried corn dogs = heaven.

As much as I would like to, I have nothing to say about this outfit.

Ok, I have one thing to say: I think owned a miniature version of these exact same shorts when I was about four. Clearly, pre-K me was a fashion maverick. Either that, or my sticktoitiveness is just really, really impressive.

I've never exactly been one to follow a dress code. I've had more jobs since I was 16 than I'd like to admit, and I'm pretty sure I've skirted the rules at every one of them. In this very post, I am missing the hosiery (yes, hosiery) required by the employee handbook. While I do happen to own hosiery, it's the principle of the thing. Also, I'm pretty sure it hasn't been called hosiery since 1958. You can check me on that, but I'm fairly confident in my conviction.

as of late

Film 2012-04 23
*picture completely unrelated to anything

I'd like to write about all the things that have been happening in my life recently. I'd like to gather up the details and fling them from my body so that I never have to explain or worry about them again.

But that just seems so exhausting.

Therefore, I will lock everything in the box of summation and just move forward.

I've mentioned that I have been looking for a job. Well, after a disheartening process of many months, I was finally offered a wonderful opportunity. I don't want to go into too much detail, so let's just say that today I start work for a(nother) library in the DFW area. I'm excited about where this new opportunity will take me. I'm nervous about how things will change.

Nervous, excited, nervous excited...

I guess you could say that my feelings on the subject are "SQUEE!"

Mostly, I look forward to a new chapter and anticipate what lies ahead. Let's see what happens.

the silence

something was scary

I know it's been pretty quiet around here the past few weeks. I just wanted to drop in and say that I'm alright - life is just pretty hectic right now, and I'm not posting much because I don't really have anything to talk about just yet. Unless you want to hear about how I'm watching Game of Thrones. I could talk a lot about that.

There have been exciting happenings that I can't wait to share, but until that time, just know that I'm puttering along as always. You can always keep up with me via twitter and instagram if you're dying to know the every day workings of my super fabulous, adventure-filled life. Never fear, Reader! I shall be back soon.

It was really way too chilly for me to be wearing a tank and flippy-floppys yesterday. Did I have any regard for these common rules of decency? Clearly not.

outfit: put a belt on it

Some like to  put a bird on it. I like to put a belt on it.

You should know that I took these pictures in front of an audience. This beautiful teal wall is in a courtyard with a pool, and now that it's summer...yeah. People in swim suits sunning themselves in deck chairs got to watch me run back and forth to my tripod in all my business wear glory. Swim and a show, lucky them.

On a side note, after hours of preparation, a considerable amount of stress, and a somewhat rocky start, the Spring Bash was a total success! After seeing all the other booths, I was really nervous (I believe "sweating bullets" is the technical term). Most vendors had backdrops, decorations, and fancy lighting from Anthropologie. I had a bare folding table, Goodwill baskets, and garden chairs with the Texas flag printed on them. But, at the end of the day, I met lots of sweet people and sold quite a few gift bags. Maybe the full bar twenty feet away had something to do with it.

outfit: play on repeat

I wore this exact outfit like three days in a row. It's shameful, I know. The good news is, I'm over it now. I definitely didn't wear the necklace again the next day with the same pants and different shirt. Nope. Definitely not.

I have to give a little plug for this JOYN bag from Purse & Clutch. I got it at TxSC and have used it constantly since. It's cute, summery, comfortable, and perfect for my casual days. Basically, I'm in love. <3

FYI, I'll be MIA the rest of this week. I'll be furiously preparing for the Spring Bash and won't have time to dilly dally on the internet. If you go to the Bash, be sure to find my table and say hello!

*Yes, Purse & Clutch is a sponsor, but I bought this bag before they became so. My love is pure.

I wore this for yet another job interview. I finally broke down and went to The Nanner (or, "Banana Republic" as all the lame-o's are calling it) and got myself an alternative option to the plethora of LBDs I've been traipsing around in. I think I look a little bit like a caucasian Karen Filippelli. How could they not give me the job?
